Agape is a planning service for Catholic weddings, operated by Cloister LLC (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It covers agapewedding.com, couples’ wedding websites we host, and the vendor and venue portals.

Agape is independent. It is not an official service of the Catholic Church or of any diocese or parish. Your parish and diocese decide everything about your marriage preparation; Agape is where you and they keep the paperwork and plans in one place.

What we collect

From couples

  • Your names, email address and password (stored as a secure hash by our authentication provider).
  • Your marriage file (the pre-nuptial questions): legal names, dates and places of birth, your religious tradition, baptism, Confirmation and First Communion, and — if either of you was married before — details of that marriage, its civil status and any Church decision about it.
  • Documents you upload, such as baptismal and Confirmation certificates and marriage-preparation certificates.
  • Your ceremony plans: readings, music, the people serving in your liturgy and the order of service.
  • Wedding planning details: your guest list (names, email and postal addresses, RSVPs, meal choices, seating), registry, hotel blocks, invitation designs, checklist and calendar.
  • Your wedding website’s content and photos.
  • Messages you exchange with your parish and with vendors through Agape.

About other people, from couples

When you add guests, witnesses or wedding-party members, you give us their names and contact details. Please only add people who would expect you to share their details for your wedding. Witnesses receive an email from us with a private link; they can decline.

From witnesses, guests, priests and vendors

  • Witnesses: their statement that, as far as they know, you are free to marry, and whether they signed or declined.
  • Guests: RSVPs and any messages or cash-gift details they choose to send.
  • Priests and diocesan staff: their review decisions and notes on your marriage file.
  • Vendors and venues: their business details, photos, availability and replies to couples.

Collected automatically

  • Product analytics (PostHog): which pages and features are used, tied to your account id, so we can see what works. We don’t send your marriage-file answers or documents to analytics.
  • Basic technical logs from our hosting provider (such as IP address and browser) for security and debugging.

Business listings from public sources

Our vendor and venue directory includes businesses listed from publicly available information, such as their own websites and Catholic vendor directories. A business can claim its listing to correct it, or ask us to stop contacting it at any time using the link in any email we send it.

How we use it

  • To run the service: your dashboard, your marriage file, your wedding website and your conversations.
  • To send the emails the service depends on: invitations to your partner and witnesses, updates from your parish, replies from vendors, and RSVP and gift notices.
  • To keep Agape secure and prevent abuse.
  • To understand how Agape is used and improve it.

We don’t sell personal information, and we don’t use it for advertising.

Who we share it with

Your parish and diocese

When you connect your parish, your marriage file — your answers, documents, witness statements and preparation records — is shared with your parish through Biblori, the parish-side system connected to Agape, and, where your diocese reviews marriage files or a permission or dispensation is needed, with the diocesan staff responsible for it. Your priest may receive a private review link that works for up to one year. Once your marriage is recorded, the parish keeps its sacramental register under its own control.

Vendors you contact

When you send an inquiry, the vendor receives your name, email, wedding date, guest count and message. If the vendor hasn’t joined Agape, we email your message to the address they publish, with your email as the reply-to address.

Your guests

Whatever you publish on your wedding website is visible to anyone with the link, unless you set a password.

Service providers

We use these companies to run Agape. They process data for us under their own security and privacy terms:

  • Supabase — database, file storage and sign-in
  • Vercel — hosting
  • Resend — email delivery
  • Stripe — payments, including cash gifts and payouts to couples
  • PostHog — product analytics
  • Lob — checking that guest and shipping addresses are deliverable

Affiliate links

Some registry and hotel links earn Cloister a commission at no cost to you. As an Amazon Associate, Cloister earns from qualifying purchases; hotel listings are powered by Stay22.

When required

We may disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the safety of people or the service.

How long we keep it

We keep your information while your account is open. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete your data within 30 days, except what we must keep by law (for example, payment records). Records your parish or diocese has already received — including your marriage file and any entry in the parish register — are kept by them under their own policies; ask your parish about those.

Your choices

  • You can view and edit most of your information in your dashboard at any time.
  • You can make your wedding website private with a password, or unpublish it.
  • To get a copy of your data, correct something you can’t edit, or delete your account, email hello@agapewedding.com. We’ll respond within 30 days.

Cookies

We use cookies to keep you signed in, remember your language and which part of Agape you were using, remember a wedding website’s password once you’ve entered it, and for product analytics. We don’t use advertising cookies.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit. Access to your records is limited by database rules to the people involved — you, your partner, and the parish, diocese and vendors you connect with — and uploaded documents are served through short-lived private links. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach affecting you, we’ll tell you.

Children

Agape accounts are for adults. Couples may list children as guests or members of the wedding party; we don’t knowingly collect information directly from children under 13.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we’ll update the date above and tell account holders by email before the change takes effect.
